It celebrates the Flying Tigers of the Chinese Air Force. Officially called the First American Volunteer Group, the Tigers consisted of Army Air Corps, Navy and Marine fighter pilots flying under Chinese colors. The three Flying Tiger squadrons were recruited to bomb Japan and defend China.
